1919 Leighton A Wilkie and his father Julius, develop automotive connecting rod alignment machine for auto repair shops and market it by direct-demonstration selling

1927 the Wilkies incorporate as Continental Machine specialties Company in Minneapolis Minnesota to engage in tool and die work and metal stamping

1930 the continental process, a low-cost method for making stamping dies is patented and the first step toward a direct marketing organization is taken

1933 Leighton Wilkie develops the last of the seven basic machine tools, the metalcutting contour bandsawing machine

1934 Robert J Wilkie brother of Leighton becomes president of Continental Machines in charge of research and development

1935 first DOALL band machine demonstrations in customer plants from a mobile trailer unit starts a new era in machine tool making

1938 first automotive-type production line in machine tool industry is set up to build DOALL machines

1939 Contour saws is established to develop and produce DoALL band saw blade; first DoALL precision surface grinder is developed and added to line

1940 DoALL cutting fluids are developed and marketed; DoALL Company is incorporated as primary wholesaler and marketing organization for DoALL products ; first industrial supply centers are created to provide uniform sales and service policies

1941 DoALL gage blocks introduce measurement accuracy to millionths

1942 DoALL trade school is established to train operators for war-time production; local supply centers are expanded into new marketing areas

1943 Employee profit-sharing program is set up to provide unusually liberal financial benefits for all employees; first buttress or "skip-tooth," form band saw blade developed

1944 postwar expansion of supply centers is increased; research and development of new products begun

1947 first Claw-Tool or "hook-tooth" form band saw blade developed

1948 DoALL demonstration-test center created to conduct machining research on customer applications; leasing of machine tools extended

1949 first bandsawing machines with hydraulically-powered word tables are developed; first tungsten carbide-tipped band saw blade

1950 DoALL band saw blades are made in China

1951 Cutting tools are added to lines offered and stocked by DoALL industrial supply centers. Cutting tools are marketed under DoALL name

1952 The Rams-Head Company develops DoALL industrial chemical specialties; cutting fluids line expanded

1953 first high-speed steel band saw blade is produced and marketed; first cutoff bandsawing machine deisgned to use high-speed stell blade is introduced by DoALL.

1954 Continental Granite Corporation begins manufacturing of DoALL blackgranite gaging products

1955 Precision slicing machines are developed for cutting semi-conductor and other friable materials.

1957 First true friction sawing band saw blade is developed and marketed

1958 machine tool line expanded with fully-automated models

1960 first overseas DoALL industrial supply center established in West Germany; first hard-backed carbon alloy band saw blade introduced

1963 DoALL science center inc. dedicated for advanced research and development work on DoALL products

1964 First bimetal band saw blades introduced; commander laboratories begins manufacture of DoALL industrial electronic products

1965 first tracer-controlled contour band machine introduced; DoALL band saw blades and band machines are produced in Sweden; big-capacity tilt-frame, cutoff band machines developed

1967 first NC quality high-speed steel end mills are developed and marketed; first narrow width bimetal band saw blade for contouring introduced

1970 first numerically-controlled machine tool with manual data input in shop language introduced; bi-metal band saw blade for interrupted cutting development

1972 Lathes, tracer mills and biodegradable cutting fluids are added to the line

1973 tool and cutter grinder added to the line: "whole shop" concept introduced and marketed

1974 Dialog NC tape preparation system introduced
